The WinApps CD contains a huge library of useful PC files. It is constantly kept up-to-date. Each version is named WinAppsyddd where y is the last digit of the year (currently = 0) and ddd is the julian date (000 thru 366). Bootable: The WinApps CD is bootable to a DOS prompt independent of the hard drive. The optical drives are supported in this DOS boot. Here are the links related to WinApps CDs: WinApps CD current contents listings: • WinAyddd.pdf - alphabetical list with descriptions and instructions in PDF format • WinAyddd.txt - alphabetical list with descriptions and instructions in TXT format • WinAydddxls.pdf - list in newest to oldest order in PDF format • WinApps_CD.htm (this document) <http://www.cockle.us/download/WinApps/> Current Winapps ISO File: <http://winapps.kca-tx.org/> The ISO file is an image of a WinApps CD. Download the WinAppsyddd.ISO and double-click on it. Popular CD burning programs (Roxio and Nero) will want to go directly to the CD burning mode. A free CD/DVD burning program that does ISO files is CDBurnerXP for Win 2000/03/08/XP/Vista/7 <http://majorgeeks.com/CDBurnerXP_d4242.html>. Saving on Flash Drive vs Burning CD: Many users don't want to burn the ISO file to a CD. Instead, they drag-n-drop the downloaded ISO file onto 7Zip <http://www.7-zip.org/download.html>. Once unZIPped in 7Zip, they use 7Zip's Copy command to copy the individual files and folders directly to a USB Flash Drive. [Note that the Flash Drive is not bootable as is the burned CD.] (WinApps_CD.htm) |
