Shortcut for the Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer
<http://www.cockle.us/download/PicFaxSC.htm>

Once you know about and appreciate the neat features in WinXP's well hidden Picture and Fax Viewer, you'll probably want to create a Shortcut for it on your Desktop, Quick Launch Bar or Start Menu. Here's how:

1. Right-click on a clear spot of your Desktop.

2. Point at New.

3. In new menu, click on Shortcut.

4. Enter the following into the 'Type the location of the item' box of the Create Shortcut window:

%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen

[Tip: If viewing this on your PC instead of a printout, Copy/Paste the above line from here into the box.]

5. Click on Next.

6. In the 'Select a title for the program' box, Enter the name you wish to see underneath the Shortcut icon. Example:

Pic & Fax Viewer

7. Click on Finish.

At this point you have a Shortcut icon on your Desktop with the name you entered in Step 6 above.

Change the picture in the icon (optional):

You may wish to change the icon to one more representative of its function. Here's how to change it to one that I like:

1. Right-click on your new Shortcut icon.

2. Click on Properties.

3. Click on the 'Change icon' button.

4. Browse to the following location:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll

5. Scroll the icons display horizontally to a little past the middle where you'll see a camera in the bottom row.

6. Click on the camera icon to Select it and then click OK.

7. Click on Apply and then click on OK. It's done.

Placing new Shortcut on the Quick Launch Bar and/or to the Start Menu:

Now you may wish to copy this Shortcut to the Quick Launch Bar, or to the Start Menu. Simply left-drag it from the Desktop to either the Quick Launch Bar and/or to the Start Menu. If you don't want it on the Desktop anymore after copying it to Quick Launch Bar or the Start Menu, simply right-click on the Desktop Shortcut and, while holding down the Shift key, click on Delete.

How to use the Picture and Fax Viewer:

1. Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, browse to a folder that contains the picture or pictures you wish to view.

2. Open the Picture and Fax Viewer by clicking on its Shortcut.

3. Drag-n-drop the first picture that you wish to view onto the blank window of the Picture and Fax Viewer.

4. Enjoy the features of the Picture and Fax Viewer,e.g., manual slide show, printing, etc., using the clickable tools at the bottom of the picture.
